About: United Way of Central Missouri's Power of the Purse event offers an opportunity for women to show their support for the United Way of Central Missouri and the over 109,000 people served through our 28 partner agencies--while they enjoy the comradery of other engaged, caring women in our community.  This event is made possible through our Host Committee comprised of passionate, energetic, community-minded women who make this event a success!  This year’s event is a hybrid model, including free access to the online auction and a $30 ticket to the in-person event. The online silent auction will open November 12 and close during the in-person event on November 18. Guests in attendance will have the opportunity to see the online silent auction items on display. At the in-person event on Thursday, November 18, men will model the 12-13 highest valued Live Auction for guests to view prior to bidding on those items. The Live Auction bags will be available Thursday evening for guests in attendance only. True to the event’s intent, guests will have the opportunity to learn more about the United Way of Central Missouri and how to support their community, while enjoying the opportunity to bid on silent and live auction purses--ranging from upscale, brand-name purses, to local hand-made bags and vintage collectibles. Additional event components include a wine pull, jewelry pull and Women United t-shirt sales.
